The work of Zip started off with a task of asking questions within ourselves and communities around us. Finding a target audience, addressing pain points, and collaborating on ideas to successfully navigate our goal.

Working in a group of designers, it is important to find common ground within one another in order to work together and solve an issue. All of us recently going through school, we saw a need for college students navigating the media overload of news outlets and social media.

Designers involved in the creation of Zip: Carly Yanoff, Jordan JP, Abby Pipho

Zip is a weekly zine publication along with an app and website addressing news in a clear and concise way. Zip is designed to be straight to the point, giving the readers a chance to decide their own views on the news. Monthly zines are published and placed on college campuses among other areas where many college students reside. It is encouraged that they pick up the zines and look through.

The Z in the Zip logo is a greater-than or equal-to sign that symbolizes how Zip gives the reader info and lets them decide what to think. The ellipsis that follows Zip is encouraging conversation through the current events addressed.

The overall mood of Zip is casual and fun but remains a more clean, modern feel to connect to the audience but still have that professional feel. Black and white with bright and bold pops of color as well as incorporating half tones gives that news feel with a twist.
